Key: Additions Deletions
Within this section we aim to put a character on the people associated with Loudoun Kirk, rather than just an index of burials.
If you fill in any more detail please use the family history templates. Or rather than spend ages completing indivual records, why not just give the brief details (so that it appear on the menu) and attach a GEDCOM.
The parishesof Loudoun and Galston both cover parts of Newmilns, Darvel and part of Galston. Each of the three towns are divided between the two parishes depending on which side of the river/road the address are on, for example "Brown St, & Nelson St, Greenholm" are in Newmilns but are actually in the parish of Galston. The older registrations use the parish name whilst the newer registrations use the district name and it is much clearer identifying the town.
You'll find BMD's of Galston/Loudoun parishes in the Family History Resources section and if you would like to add any details from your own BMD's, there are templates for them as well. Just click on the specific registration from the menu on the left, the Add a New Page, save your page as the name on the registration (maiden name for females if possible) & surname first. The name of the page can only be used once so it may be best to add the year of the event.
Whilst you are welcome to add family trees to this site, we realise it does have it's limitations in programming. www.werelate.org is a specifically designed wiki for family trees and because of the volume of family histories we have been working on for the burials in Loudoun kirkyard, I have added the relevant GEDCOM's to it for most of the names. However should anyone wish a GEDCOM added to our own site for importing, we will be happy to do so, we will only be using the "werelate" site for displaying the family trees, but will deal with enquiries though hour own site.
Many "Valley" folks emigrated, for various reasons and the following links gives some interesting reading for the Scottish colonists in America. http://www.siliconglen.com/Scotland/11_24.html
