Angela,

I live at Coffs Harbour but four of our children live in Brisbane.
I have discovered many distant cousins in the area (I don't think you are one - smile) who are descended from the eight children of Matthew Caldwell and Johanna McKenzie who emigrated as a family to Gympie in 1883 (Matthew himself had died young aged 37 at Lugar in Scotland).
I posted a response to your message noting that one of the distant McMurtrie cousins (at least) had also emigrated to Queensland in the late 1800's.
The McMurtrie/McMurtry spelling is different but apparently the McMurtrie family can be traced back to Dailly (I believe) in Ayrshire.
